The hotel is located in a prime beachfront location overlooking the Arabian Gulf and is expected to offer 300 rooms and suites with ocean views. Design plans for the hotel include three restaurants, retail space, and signature areas such as the Living Room, WET Deck, W Lounge, AWAY Spa, and FIT fitness center.

The announcement of W Al Marjan Island underscores the expansion of W Hotels in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, with planned new openings throughout the area in various locations. W Al Marjan Island will be the brand's fourth property in the United Arab Emirates, following W Dubai The Palm, W Dubai - Mina Seyahi, and W Abu Dhabi - Yas Island.
